Cool Vegas Factoid!
On our way to the hotel from the airport our shuttle driver told us an interesting story! The MGM hotel was planning to build a 60,000 room hotel and casino on the strip next to the Bellagio. They already owned most of the land but there was a small club called, The Jockey Club that owned a tiny piece right at the strip. The owner of The Jockey Club purchased the land 20 years ago for $3.2 million. The MGM offered him $300 million for the property. The owner refused stating that the asking price was $1 Billion. The MGM warned him that they would build anyway but the owner still held out for more money. So The MGM built anyways. They completely engulfed the little jockey club with there enormous hotel. The value of the Jockey Club and land is almost Nothing because no one could use the property but The MGM. So big lesson learned: GREED IS VERY BAD!!!!!
