Oakhurst, California

A little info on Oakhurst and Coarsegold communities, where The Corbett's will be starting a new chapter in our life. Oakhurst is the last town you pass through before making the journey into Yosemite National Park. It sits at about 2500 ft elevation and will get some snow in the winter. Seasons are the norm here. You get to experience a bit of all four. Oakhurst is the main tourist stop for those vacationing in Yosemite.

There are very few hotels in the Yosemite National Park so most people stay in Oakhurst. On an average year approximately 4 million people will visit Yosemite so the summers can get a bit crazy. Not to mention Oakhurst brings it's own set of tourist with Bass Lake. Bass lake is very similar to Big Bear Lake, lots of pine trees and crystal clear water. There is an annual fishing tournament in May every year that brings 100's to the lake. There is one main hotel to stay at in Bass Lake and that is the Pines Resort. It has been there for years. Doug and his family have lots of memories there. If you do not want to stay in a hotel there are lots of lake houses to rent. That was our big family vacation this year. We had soooo much fun.

As for activities in Oakhurst there are lots!!! Many reasons for all our Rancho friends and family to come visit us throughout the year. In October there is a wine and chocolate festival, November brings the annual harvest events,(real pumpkin patches), December Santa comes to oakhurst for pictures and festivities, there is a founders day parade, and in August they have a Disney days at the community park. Besides city run events there are many hiking trails, panning for gold, visiting an authentic mining town, ride the Sugar Pine Logger train down into the Yosemite Valley(Jake loved this!!!!) and of course Yosemite!!!! It takes about 1hour 15 minutes to the Yosemite village. Many waterfalls and hiking trails along the way.

Hopefully this gives everyone a little glimpse into why we are so excited that God is opening these doors for us. Doug and I continue to pinch ourselves at the idea that we get to raise our family in such a phenomenal place. Please continue to pray for us in our journey!!!!

Wow, I didn't know your family was planning such a big move. Oakhurst looks gorgeous! May God guide every detail and make this a wonderful new season in your lives. We can relate to the difficulties of saying goodbye but can also relate to how God is soooo good at showing His care during a transition like this.
