On Monday we woke up to snow and it snowed ALL day. I was lucky enough to get to stay home from work and spend the day with the boys. Doug is off on Mondays so we enjoyed a family snow day complete with snow ball fights and hot chocolate!!

Last Saturday night we got all bundled up and headed in to Oakhurst to watch the town Christmas tree lighting. The boys played a little hide and seek while we were waiting for the big count down. After the tree was lit santa rode in on a big red fire truck!!! I tried to get pics of the tree and santa but my camera became uncooperative. It was probably to cold! The temp was in the 20's. Brrrrrr

Since having our two boys and moving up to Oakhurst we have begun some family traditions that we all look forward to during the holiday season. One of them being Breakfast with Santa at the community center. We enjoy a full pancake breakfast, the kids get books and stuffed animals and they get to sit on Santa's lap. The other really great thing about it is that all the proceeds of the breakfast get donated to The Children's Museum, one of our favorite places to go on the mountain.

On 11-27-1999 Doug and I married our best friends. We knew on that date that we loved each other but we were taking a chance on love not truely knowing what a life together would mean. Ten years and two beautiful boys later we truely know what it means to love one another. It has not always been easy. We have had our share of challenges. We have definately needed to rely on eachother through many transitions. As we look back today on the last ten years we now know that no matter what life puts before us we are in this one together and we love eachother more today than ever.

We were so blessed to be part of our great friends Brian and Jenny's wedding this weekend. Brian and Jenny are our neighbors and over the last two years have become like family to us. We were thrilled when they wanted to have Jake in the wedding as their ring bearer. He was pretty apprehensive at the rehersal but once we got to "go time" he did a great job walking down the isle holding my hand. We were so proud of him!!!

For my moms birthday she wanted to go camping locally so we headed out to midpines. We spent the weekend relaxing and swimming. We had a really great time spending the weekend with my parents just us. We do not get to do that very much.

My friend Barbara and I decided to take the kiddos to the zoo since the weather had cooled just enough that it wouldn't be to brutal. We carpooled down, spent a few hours,had lunch, and then headed home in time for naps. It was a great day!

My parents decided that they wanted to take the boys on a fun local outing while they were babysitting so they headed up the road to the SugarPine Railroad. The Sugar Pine train is an authentic Steam Train. Luke was a little freaked out by the Steam and the VERY loud whistle but eventually relaxed and had a great time.

We went camping with a group of friends up at Fresno Dome. It was our first experience with "dry" camping since we got the RV. The campground was situated right on a creek with lots of shade. All the kiddos played in the creek and the mud ALL day. They were filthy but as you can imagine they had a blast.

I know it has been a while since I have updated the Blog. We have been very busy playing at the lake, camping, and hanging out with friends. We have had lots of fun visitors this Summer. School is back in up here so we are getting back into the regular swing of things. As if our life wasn't crazy enough I decided to go back to work full time. I really missed getting to do nursing everyday. It is an adjustment for us but I think things are going pretty well. We should have another exciting, challenging year ahead of us.

This year Jake took swim lessons at Yosemite Highschool with several of his buddies. Lessons lasted two weeks. He learned to dive, swim forward and swim on his back. He had such a blast!!!!

RV Trip 2009

For Doug's vacation this year we decided to take a two and a half week RV trip to Texas to visit The Barragans. We logged in over 3000 miles and over 63 hours of drive time. I have to admit once it was time to head out on our trip Doug and I were saying, "What are we thinking, two weeks in an RV with two kids under 5!"

We did alot of praying and headed out on our journey. I must report that our trip went better than expected! We did not hit ANY traffic, there were no accidents or breakdowns, and the kids did awesome!!! Now don't get me wrong, the trip did NOT feel like a vacation for Doug and I but it was definitely a hit with the boys.

It brought us to a new realization in life. As parents we do things that are not always fun or easy for us. We do these things to help give our kids awesome memories to look back on. Thank you mom and dad and Mama and Papa D for taking one for the team on many vacations while Doug and I were growing up. You succeeded in giving us both wonderful memories with no recollection of how painful it had to have been at times for you. Please know that with being parents now we truly appreciate what you did for us, We Love You!!!!!!

Now that we have been home a couple of weeks I can look back on the trip and say that I am really glad we did it but next year, Hawaii here we come!!!

Our first stop of the trip was at The Oasis RV Resort in Las Vegas. We spent time sight seeing and swimming. It was in the 90's so it was actually very nice weather for Las Vegas

We rode in a taxi cab and a shuttle bus to head down to the strip. Jake thought that this was the best part!

We stopped in Chino Valley, Az to visit Doug's Uncle Marty and Aunt Sharon before we headed to Phoenix. It was a nice stop. The boys and Charlie got to run and we got to catch up with Marty and Sharon. This was the first time we got to see their ranch.

Once we arrived in Lubbock we were there a few days and then we all headed down to New Braunsfel Texas to go to The Schlitterbaun. The Schlitterbaun is one of the Top 5 water parks in the US. A little trivia about Draby, Beanie, Doug,and I is that we LOVE waterparks. It was definately different with three small children but we still had a great time!!!

While visiting New Braunsfel we decided to go check out the Wild Life Ranch. Basically it is a wild animal park that you drive through in your car and feed the animals out of your window. There were lots of different animals to look at and feed. We all had a great time but I think the adults enjoyed it more than the kids. Beanie was a little afraid of the animals so that made for a VERY entertaining ride!!!!

For Memorial Day weekend we headed over to Darby and Beanie's friends house for swimming and a cook out. The kiddos LOVED swimming in there heated pool!!

I had some comforters that needed to be washed so I decided to head on down the the Oakhurst Laudromat. I assumed that it would be like the ones in S.Cal with the really big washers but I was wrong. I basically shoved the comforters in to washers not much bigger than mine and crossed my fingers. Unfortunately after 1 hour 15min and $8 later I had two comforters that weren't clean and no more patience for the boys. As my friend Julie said, "Oh well, one more notch on the belt for what you can do with two kids" I Did Not have fun but as you can imagine the boys did! Giant laundry carts, tables to climb on and run under, a giant snack machine. What more could a boy want. Ahhhhhhh!

Jake's Last Day of School

This Wednesday was Jake's Last day in Ms. Becky's Class. The school year does not officially end until the end of the month but since we are going to be gone the rest of May we had to say goodbye a little early. This picture is Jake with Ms. Becky. He loves her sooo much and so do we. She has really helped Jake excel in his first year of preschool. We will get to see her next year because Jake has one more year of preschool before Kindergarten but he will be in a different class. We could not be happier with how things went this year!!!!

Bass Lake Fishing Derby 2009

The first weekend in may is the start of season in Bass Lake. They always kick off the season with the Fishing Derby. It is really special to Doug because he used to fish in it as a little boy and now he gets to fish with his little boys. It was cold and rainy and no fish were caught but everyone had a great time!!!!

Jake was sooo excited to fish with his very own pole all by himself! He is going to make a great fisherman and fit right in with the rest of the family!!!! Fish stories and all :)

On the last weekend of April we head down to meet up with our old church for the annual family camp weekend. As always we all had a really great time. When Spring finally hits here in Bass Lake, oh what a wonderful thing!!! We have been couped up All winter so it is so nice to be able to go outside and really enjoy where we live. Doug had the great idea to add 5ft to our deck to give us more room. The deck is where we spend almost all of our dinners in the warmer months. I was so excited and very impressed that Doug got it done in two weekends!!! We have a few finishing touches but we are waiting for a forcast of clear skies for several days!!!!

Camping in Pismo!

For my birthday weekend we decided to take a camping trip with The Lane's to Pismo. Pismo seemed to be the half way point between our homes. It was also our inaugeral camping trip in the RV with the Boys. We had such a good time together. The weather could have been better but it was so nice to get away and relax with our friends!!!!

We all decided to walk down to the Pier to let the boys see the seaguls and people fishing off the Pier. They had soooo much fun running and chasing the birds!!!

One of the best parts of the trip was that Jane and I got to have a little girl time walking through the shops while the Dad's took the boys to the park!!!

Jake has been really wanting to fly a kite so we surprised him with one to fly on the beach. Unfortunatly it was a little too windy for the kite we bought so it did not last very long. Good thing about Jake is he is very easy to impress so just the thought of a kite was enough for him!!!

For New Years we went with our friends the Mallory's and Davidsons to The Pines for some yummy food and dancing. They had the restaurant and bars all decked out for the celebration and there were two live bands. We had a great time celebrating with our friends. Sign us up for next year!!! Thanks to all the grandparents for the babysitting. We Reallllllly appreciated a grown up night out :0) It was a perfect start to 2009!!!!

We were so blessed up here to have our first White Christmas. Doug had to work but was able to be home in the morning to open presents and have breakfast with the family. My parents,grandparents, and some friends joined us for the day and for Christmas dinner. There were a few bumps in the day because of the snow but overall it was a great day.

Now that Jake is old enough to understand Christmas, Doug and I wanted to make sure that we establish some family traditions of our own. For Christmas Eve we all went to Christmas Eve service at our church, then Doug the boys and I came home and had a picnic dinner on the floor in front of the fire. The boys each got to open one gift from eachother (Ornaments) and hang them on their trees in their room. We then put Luke to bed and Jake helped me hang our stockings for santa and set out his cookies and milk. We ended the night with the story of Christmas and baby Jesus next to the tree. It was such a special night as a family.

Last night was Doug's work Christmas Party. It was really nice this year because it was at his Lt's house so it was casual. We had a really great time hanging out, talking, and eating yummy treats. It was nice to get to meet many of the people Doug works with and their wives. We carpooled with our friends The Mallorys. For some reason I took pics when we first got there then didn't take anymore. Next year I will do better with that!!!! :0)

On Saturday the Kiwanis club put on the annual breakfast with Santa. This is a fundraiser for the Children's museum of Oakhurst and it is the kick off to the holiday season in the mountains. Pancake breakfast in the morning, Boy scout Christmas tree sale in the afternoon, and Tree lighting in the evening. It is a very busy but fun day. It really puts the whole town in the Christmas spirit. Most families do all of these things every year. It is one of the great things about living in a small town!!!!!

9 Years and Counting!

Doug and I celebrated our 9 year wedding anniversary on Thanksgiving Day this year. We decided to go camping overnight in our new RV on Sunday when Doug was off. Only having one day, we decided to head to Santa Margarita which is about 3 hours from our house near Pismo Beach. We spent Sunday relaxing and Monday doing a little shopping. It was so great to just spend some time together.

Every Fall I am so amazed at how the leaves change colors here. Because of that, Thanksgiving has become more precious to me. When I look outside I realize how thankful I am that we live here.

This year Doug had to work on Thanksgiving so we invited some of the other officers working that day to join us for dinner. Our neighbors Brian and Jenny needed a turkey stop too so of course we made room for them at our table. In a town where relocation is so common many folks are seperated from their families on holidays. We love to be able to include them in our day!!!!

Saturday was Jake's final game with The Jurassic Kids. Gma and Gpa D came up for the weekend so they got to see a game and go to the pizza and awards party. Jake was so excited to have them there. On Friday night I babysat my friend Holly's boys for the evening. The kids needed a distraction and quit honestly they needed a bath from all the playing. I decided to put them ALL in the bath. Crazy I know!!! They had a blast and did a great job. Most of the water stayed in the tub!!!

Today my MOPS group headed up to Calvin Crest Christian Conf. Center for our first MOPS Day Camp. The camp was from 9-12:30. One of our MOPS moms lives at the camp and she set up this great day of hiking, crafts, and Lunch. Calvin Crest is about 35min from our house towards Yosemite. It is absolutely beautiful there!! There are lots of pines and Oaks so you could imagine the amazing colors of Fall. It was cool and crisp, It felt like a perfect fall day. I am still getting used to real seasons up here. I am totally amazed to see what God can do with colors!!! I highly suggest a trip up to this area in the Fall. I think it is our most beautiful season!!!!

Doug had the day off so he joined us to help me with Luke on the hike. He ended up being a great help to the other moms as well. As you can see in some of the pics, us moms were a little out numbered!!! :)

Doug and I decided to host a huge Halloween Party with all of our friends and family up here. We used straw Bails for seating, had tons of harvest themed decorations, yummy soups to eat, a pumpkin carving contest, costume parade, tractor rides, and a bonfire!! It took us about two days to get everything set up but boy was it worth it! There is nothing like seeing tons of kids and adults in fun costumes. We already can't wait for Halloween Extravaganza 2!! On Monday the 20th we took Jake to Disneyland for his birthday present. Luke hung back with Gma D for the day. Doug and I both agree that this was the most fun we have ever had at Disneyland. It is so amazing to watch a 4 year old take it All in. Our friends The Lunquist's and Solomon's were also at Disneyland so we were able to meet up with them too. The final treat of the day was that The Taylor's came and joined us as well. It was Drew's first birthday and we felt so blessed that they chose to spend the evening with us!!! Jake was so happy to see Grant and Logan. Thanks guys for making Jake's present that much better!!!!

For Jake's 4th birthday he wanted two things, one, to have a party at the Children's Museum in town and two, to go to Disneyland.

The Children's museum is so fun up here for the kiddos. It is set up into differnet sections where the kids can play make believe like they are grown-ups. Ex. Pizza Parlor, Bank, Fireman (Pole and fire truck), ambulance driver, pirate on a pirate ship, stage with tons of dress up costumes. We have an annual pass so me and the boys go there alot. especially in the winter when it is too freezing to go outside.

The party had a Mickey Mouse theme to get us ready for our trip to Disneyland!!!!

As many of you know our Sister, brother in law and beautiful niece recently relocated to Lubbock, Tx. Doug and I were able to take a trip there for a few days back in Sept. to help them get settled. We know how important it is to be loved and supported by your family and friends when you make a big move to do what is best for your family. We also know how emotionally trying it is especially if you are leaving soo many people you love and care for behind. We recently received this pic. of them in all their Texas tech. garb and I thought it was a perfect pic to post so all of you who have heard me talk about them and who have been praying for them can see what they look like!!! Please continue to lift them up in your prayers. Trust me as someone who can speak from experience, they will need paryers, phone calls, and visitors!!! Love you guys!! Danny and his mom

Since relocating to Oakhurst we have had little moments where God has shown himself to us as a family. We are regularly comforted by the amazing heart in this town. We know that this is right where we need to be to raise our boys. Many of you know about the young man up here battling a very aggressive form of cancer. Danny continues to amaze us everyday with his unbelievable spirit. This was posted on his care page today and I wanted to share our amazing town with you. Please keep praying for Danny and his family......

This afternoon, our Mountain Area Pop Warner Football teams will have a home game at Yosemite High School. As the boys come on to the field, they will run through banners that say, 'Danny Z Says Bite Me Cancer' and there will be a moment of silence as people pray for Danny and his family. In each of the programs there will be an insert saying the following:

'Danny Zabicki is a 17 year old who has been fighting a rare form of cancer, Rhabdomyosarcoma. He has handled the last year and a half of
treatment with more grace and dignity than you could imagine and has
inspired us with his 'bite me cancer' attitude. We have learned
lessons in living large and making the most of each day while
watching him endure torturous treatments, then bouncing back to plan
a party or go out with his friends and family - choosing to feel
well. 'I'll be fine,' has been his common refrain, simply because he
chooses to be fine.

Over the last few weeks, his body has failed him, but his spirit has
not. His courage, humor, kindheartedness and spunk are still there -
still teaching us. His family thanks you for the love and support
this community has shown them through this most difficult journey.
Your continued prayers are appreciated.'

The Badger football program describes itself with words like 'Integrity, Strength, Resolve.' I think Danny embodies those principles better than anyone I know!

On Thursday Jake, Luke and I headed out to Mariposa for some apple picking with my MOPS group. It was a really fun day just me and the boys. I took a ton of pics!!!! We picked apples, washed apples, played with animals, and had a picnic lunch. I already can't wait until next year and Doug said he can't wait for some apple pie!!!!

Last week Jake started soccer!!! His team is called The Jurassic Kids. it is a team for 5 and unders. His first game was last Saturday. He is number "9" which is really cool because that is Doug's number as well when he is playing. He was a little bit overwhelmed but did a great job. His favorite part was the snack at the end of the game!!!! :)

Jake's good friend Eli was on the opposing team. That was hard for him to understand. They kept wanting to talk to eachother during the game.

Beanie Darby and Bryawna decided to make a trip up to visit us before they made their big move to Texas. They came for 5 whole days!!!! We had a ton of fun. We spent time on the lake, celebrated Doug's bday, and took a trip into Yosemite. We were so happy that we got to spend that time with them before they left.

For Labor Day we spent the day on the Lake. It was a beautiful day. We hung out on the pontoon boat and bbq'd and the kids enjoyed playing in the sand and the water. These are a few pics of the day.

The Mariposa County Fair....

We decided to check out our first County Fair up here. I had an idea in my head, you know cute small town fair like on Charlotte's Web. Well needless to say I was a little off the mark! :) It was smaller then the OC or LA county fair but it definately had a different vibe to it. There were animals there but they weren't cute petting zoo animals, they were Livestock. Livestock that was there to be shown
(4H style) and then sold at auction. It was very HOT (100+) so that made for great moods all around! We were considering the Madera and Fresno county fairs but after Fridays experience I think one fair is enough for the Corbett Crew this year.....

I can't believe how time goes by. On Sunday I took Jake to his first drop off birthday party! It was a superhero theme. His good friend Eli loves superheros and dressing up. Jake had such a good time! He told me I LOVE Eli's superhero house!!!!

On Friday Jake's good friend Dominic had his 3rd birthday party at Pump It Up in Fresno. Doug and I think that it was the greatest kids party ever!!! We ALL had such a great time enjoying the inflatables!!! I think the adults had more fun then the kids! Nothing like elbow and knee burns from the plastic slides!!!

I don't know why the pics have the white around them but they were to funny not to post!

They had an inflatable that was an obstacle course. We all took turns racing eachother. It was hysterical! We had to keep the kids off of the course while we were racing because it was out of control!!!

Monday was the first day of school for all the kids up here so I thought why not add a trip to the dentist to Jake's first school week schedule. Jake was not very excited about going to the dentist. We gave him lots of encouragement and reassurance that we were sure there would be a toy at the end of the visit. That seemed to perk his interest. :)

Even though Jake looks sad in this pic. he really liked riding up and down in the chair.

Jake was not big about laying back in the chair so I climbed in with him. He liked that! Jake did great once I was in the chair. He thought it was pretty cool that he has 20 teeth!!!

So after a quick check-up, a pick from the toy basket, we were on our way!!!! Jake said," Next time mama, I will be in the chair all by myself!"

It was a grown-up day!!!!

Our friends The Tomazins just got a new boat and wanted to try it out on the lake. Surprisingly Doug,Brad,and Steve were all off of work on Monday so after dropping Jake off at school and Luke at Gma Mary's we headed to the lake. Doug and I had a great day relaxing on the water and spending time together!!!!!

My friend Julie and I decided that we wanted to give the Ol'tent camping a try with the kids. We talked it over with Doug and Todd and they were all for it. So on Monday we headed about 30min. north to an area called,"Big Sandy". I definately know why it is called Big Sandy, I think I am still finding dirt on Jake..:)

We only stayed one night but it definately was a full 24 hours. Due to all the unknowns Luke had his first overnighter with Gma Terri and Gpa John. We will give him a shot at tent camping on our next trip!

Beanie,Darby, and Bryawna were camping in The Sequoias last week so I wanted to take Jake on a road trip to go see them. I asked my friend Julie if she would like to join us on our road trip and she thought it would be fun. We left around 8:30am and got home about 8:30pm. It was pretty hardcore. We entered off of the 180 hwy into Kings Canyon then traveled the Generals Hwy all the way through to the Sequoias, stopped and had lunch, went on a hike and then headed the rest of the way down to the campground where the Barragans were staying. We hung out for a little while and then made the 2 1/2 hour trip home. Needless to say we were all exhausted but had a Great day. All the kids were such troopers!!!!

When I walked into the family room yesterday this is what I found....Luke had pulled most of the toys out and was sitting in the toybox! This was funny because One,Jake used to do the same thing. I have know idea what makes all kids want to climb in. Two, I didn't know Luke could get into a box this size by himself. I can't take my eyes off this kid for a second!
